South Africa is at a turning point and entrepreneurship is the game changer. The National Development Plan (NDiP) 2030 estimates that South Africa needs to have 8 million active SMEs in order to create 11 million jobs by 2030. We therefore need to dramatically increase the number, size, success and sustainability of small and medium-sized black-owned businesses to meet the set targets of the NDP and achieve true inclusive economic growth. The reality is that 7 out of 10 businesses fail, which is why as Enterpriseroom we take a different approach to traditional business incubators and other support programmes.
We work with government and corporates to understand their business strategy and procurement needs, developing strategies and programmes that deliberately use the B-BBEE Codes of Good Practice to enable actionable transformation. This is done to ensure that our entrepreneurs have a takeoff market to tap into and a head start in building long-term sustainable businesses.
We know that entrepreneurship can reverse economic inequality, reduce unemployment, address poverty and promote stable growth for South Africa. However, our aspirations for our entrepreneurs are far bigger than that. Through ideation that leverages technology and innovation to commercialisation and industrialisation, we can help gear them for globalisation.tv
